Full Time or Part Time Positions
Library Assistant at Southbury Public Library – 16 hrs. per week. Schedule includes every Wednesday, 2:30pm-5:30pm; Thursday, 5:00pm-9:00pm, Friday, 9:00am-12pm, Saturday, 9:00am-4:00pm $8.70 per hour. *Included is ½ hr. unpaid lunch on Thursday and Saturday. Works in Children’s Department and as needed in Adult Department. Responsible for all circulation procedures and shelving books. Per Diem (as needed) Positions
Per Diem Animal Control Officer to cover in the absence of the Animal Control Officer and the Assistant Animal Control Officer. Must be over the age of 18 and must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license, NACA Level 1 certification and 5 years of professional animal care experience. $11.00 per hour. Performs all essential duties related to Animal Control Department.
Qualified Per Diem Bus Driver to transport elderly and non-elderly Southbury residents to and from appointments and Senior Center. No prior experience necessary, although must obtain State of Connecticut license with appropriate endorsements, finger printing and current medical certificate from your physician.
Per Diem Clerical Position to take and transcribe minutes of various Southbury Boards and Commissions as needed.
Per Diem Reference Librarian (Reference Department) - Masters in Library Science plus one year of related experience. A combination of experience and education may be acceptable. $16.60 per hour. Provides reference and reader’s advisory services to library patrons using special research skills. Instructs library patrons in the use of the public computers and electronic and print resources. May need to supervise Library Assistants as directed by the Head Librarian. May need to be responsible for opening and closing the library building on evening and weekends as directed by the Head Librarian.
Part Time (On Call) Winter Grounds Maintainer Position to perform skilled and unskilled manual work in general winter maintenance activities supplementing or filling in for full time Town employees. Work frequently involves heavy lifting and strenuous tasks performed out-of -doors involving exposure to varying climatic conditions. Selected individuals may perform the following activities: sweep or shovel snow, operate snow blower, spread sand and salt manually, chip or scrape ice from sidewalks or steps, plow and sand driveways and parking areas with pickup truck or light dump truck and other similar duties as assigned, plow and sand town roads with heavy dump truck, and other similar duties as assigned.
Part Time (On Call) Winter Highway Maintainer Position to perform skilled and unskilled manual work in general winter maintenance activities supplementing or filling in for full time Town employees. Work frequently involves heavy lifting and strenuous tasks performed out-of -doors involving exposure to varying climatic conditions. Selected individuals may perform the following activities: sweep or shovel snow, shovel sand from disabled sander, assist in plow or sander repairs, plow and sand driveways and parking areas with pickup truck or light dump truck, plow and sand town roads with heavy dump truck, and other similar duties as assigned. Road plowing experience and CDL license required for Highway position.
