General Information:

The Public Works Department provides a broad spectrum of services to our community, focused primarily on the maintenance, repair, and construction of Town infrastructure.
Our operations span 40 square miles and encompass 126 miles of roadway.

The following is a brief overview of our primary responsibilities:

  • Street/highway maintenance and construction
  • Stormwater Management
  • Maintenance and repair of municipal buildings
  • Operation of the Town Transfer Station for the collection and disposal of municipal solid waste and recyclables
  • Procurement, maintenance and repair of all Town owned vehicles and equipment
  • Grounds keeping for all public buildings and parks
  • Street signs and line striping
  • Select open space and roadside mowing and maintenance
  • Street sweeping
  • Snow/ice removal
  • Town playground equipment maintenance and construction
  • Athletic field maintenance and game preparation for youth/adult athletic programs
  • Receiving, approving and administering of the athletic field and pavilion use permits
  • Maintenance and protection of trees and bushes within the Town properties and right of ways
  • Miscellaneous support services to other Town agencies
