12/20/2017 - Struggle for Freedom: The Life of Dr. King on January 25, 2018

Bright Star Touring Theatre, a national professional touring theatre company based in Asheville, NC is visiting the Southbury Public Library with their heralded production of Struggle for Freedom: The Life of Dr. King. This special event will take place on Thursday, January 25th at 3pm in the Kingsley room.

Struggle for Freedom celebrates the work and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the context of the American Civil Rights Movement. Featuring songs from the era, this production offers the audience the opportunity to experience the heroic work of Rosa Parks as she refuses to give up her seat, the March on Washington and many more of the key moments that shaped both the Movement and our country.

Each year, Bright Star Touring Theatre serves nearly 1,000 audiences in schools, theaters, libraries, museums and more across the country. They offer a wide variety of curriculum-based programs ranging from The Lady of Bullyburg to Heroes of the Underground Railroad. The company performs regularly at the National Theatre in Washington DC and has gained international support, accepting an invitation from the U.S. Embassy to visit Moscow, Russia with their programs.

Registration is required. Call the Southbury Library at 203-262-0626 ext. 130.
