12/10/2018 - Soldiers of a Foreign War Book Talk on January 15, 2019

On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 2pm in Kingsley Room, Charles McNair, M.D. will discuss his book “Soldiers of a Foreign War: A Novel of Vietnam.”

Join us for a talk by Charles McNair, M.D. about his book “Soldiers of a Foreign War: A Novel of Vietnam.” “Soldiers of A Foreign War” follows the lives of two American infantry platoons, a three-man North Vietnamese Army Combat cell, and the staff of a small surgical hospital. The book details the day-to-day life of the men who fought in Vietnam, as well as the medical issues that occurred. The talk will be followed by question and answers as well as a book signing.

Charles McNair, M.D. is a San Diego Native. He enlisted in the Vietnam War in 1968, and was trained as combat field medic and operating technician. McNair was deployed to the 45th Surgical Hospital in Tay Ninh Province, as an OR tech. After the war, McNair went to medical school at UCC San Francisco. McNair had a medical practice in Woodbury, CT from 1981 to 2016 when he retired. Charles is married to Jean Mitchell and has three children and two grandchildren.
