1/16/2019 - Interlibrary Rubik’s Cube Competition on February 23, 2019

Interested participants in Grades 5-8 are invited to join the Southbury and Woodbury Public Libraries for an Interlibrary Rubik’s Cube Competition on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 11:30am in the Kingsley Room of the Southbury Public Library. Prior to the competition, there will be drop in practices at the Woodbury and Southbury Public Libraries.

For the practices as preparation for the Saturday, February 23 Interlibrary Rubik's Cube Competition, interested participants are invited to learn some techniques and hints, challenge each other, and practice. No cube? No problem! There will be cubes for borrowing, though anyone is welcome to bring their own cube. These practices are drop-in with no registration required and open to anyone in Grades 5-8; residents of any town can come to any practices. The dates and times are listed as follows:

Woodbury Public Library:

  • When: Meets Saturdays from 10-1; Meeting dates are Saturday, January 19 and 26 and February 2 and 16
  • Where: the Gallery Room of the Woodbury Public Library, located at 269 Main Street South, Woodbury, CT 06798

Southbury Public Library:

  • When: Meets every other Thursday from 4-5pm; Meeting dates are Thursday, January 24 and February 7 and 21
  • Where: the Storytime Room of the Southbury Public Library, located at 100 Poverty Road, Southbury, CT 06488

For the Interlibrary Rubik’s Cube Competition on Saturday, February 23 at 11:30am at the Southbury Library, participants will compete in heats to see who can solve their cubes the fastest. There will be first and second place prizes. The competition will be followed by pizza. This program is free to attend and open to anyone in Grades 5-8 regardless of town of residency, but registration is required. There are three ways to register: 1. Online at This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library and the Friends of the Woodbury Public Library. In the event of inclement weather, the snow date for the competition is scheduled for Saturday, March 16 at 11:00am at the Woodbury Public Library; registrants will be called in the event of rescheduling or cancellation.
