On Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 1:00-2:30pm, in the Kingsley Room, join us as Peter Biedermann returns to bring us this versatile and genre-defying acoustic guitar concert.
Peter Biedermann is a solo contemporary instrumental guitarist based in Green Valley, AZ that has been composing and performing for over 40 years and will be appearing for the second time in the Southbury Public Library. The common thread throughout his musical background is crossing the boundaries of music genres. This hybrid, contemporary style melds elements of American and European folk with jazz and blues shadings; underpinned by subtle ambient electronics. Peter began focusing on performing original solo instrumentals beginning in 2000. The music is now being presented in intimate settings such as libraries, art galleries, house concerts, churches etc.
Peter will be focusing on new pieces as well as material from his previous solo recordings on a variety of guitars in unique tunings. The program encourages questions from the audience and will also include some of the history and evolution of steel string guitar playing over the last 50+ years. Fans of fellow guitarists such as Michael Hedges, Leo Kottke, the British school (Bert Jansch, John Renbourn, Davy Graham) and Alex de Grassi will enjoy this music.
Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this presentation is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Space is limited and registration is required. Please call 203-262-0626 ext. 130 to register. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.
