Southbury Parks and Recreation Department sponsors a diverse range of events, activities, and programs for the youth and young at heart of the Town of Southbury. These offerings are designed to meet the physical, social, cultural and educational needs of the community for those of all ages.
For the enjoyment of friends and families alike, the P&R Department annually holds such special events as the Easter egg hunt, Memorial Day family picnic, letters from north pole, summer concert series, and the tree lighting.
Activity brochures are published seasonally offering a variety of programs from athletics and enrichment programs. Eleven town parks are available for active and passive recreational use.
The department also maintains 12 ballfields, 4 outdoor basketball courts, 10 soccer fields, a football field, 6 tennis courts, 2 volleyball courts, a bocce court, a town pool and large outdoor pavilion.
The town also maintains playgrounds at Ballantine Park, Lakeside Park, a walking track and fitness trail at Ewald Park, boat ramp and dock on Lake Lillinonah.
