5/18/2018 - Storm Update - Friday afternoon
  • The Emergency Operations Center remains open, continues to monitor and assess progress.
  • Eversource and Town crews continue to work to restore power and clear roads. Please, if at all possible, stay off of the roads.
  • Sixty-six percent of power has been restored.
  • Eversource reminds everyone that we are now at a point that ALL wires should be considered live. If you are using an improperly installed generator, using it will slow down the recovery. Please refer to our website for proper generator use. The detection of such a generator will cause the crew to move from your location to another location. Again, safety is the first priority. All wires should be considered live.
  • Eversource also reminds us that they may need to bring down your power while in the process of restoring other areas. Please be patient, it will be restored as quickly as possible.
  • Please drive slowly and cautiously. There are crews in the roadways as well as trees and limbs close to the edge of the road.
  • The transfer station will be open from 7 am to 5 pm through Saturday, May 26, 2018.
  • Pomperaug High School remains open as a shelter with sleeping accommodations, device charging, showers, and food.
