EARTH DAY - BOTTLE & CAN REDEMPTION EVENT – April 30, 2023
12:00 – 3:00pm on Sunday, April 30th at 800 Main Street South, Sustainable Southbury, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is partnering with the EyeRecycle organization to host a collection day for redeemable bottles and cans. EyeRecycle offers recycling for redeemable plastic and aluminum cans. There’s no waiting in line to put the containers through a machine. HISTORY TALK – May 6, 2023
On May 6th at 1:00pm at the Southbury Library, Town Historian John Dwyer, will highlight the circumstances that brought colonial settlers to set their homesteads on Southbury’s Main Street 350 years ago, in his talk “350 Years in 35 Minutes”. HISTORY WALK – May 7, 2023
Tying in to the Talk, will be a History Walk at Settlers Park on May 7th. Take a walk through time, learning as you go, with this fun, historical community event. Organized by the Southbury Land Trust and Southbury 350th Anniversary Steering Committee, this free, outdoor event is open to everyone. It will be held from 12pm – 3pm, starting in Settlers Park at 280 Crook Horn Road. No registration is required. There will be food trucks, historical exhibits, games and acoustic music. The Sons of the American Revolution will provide an encampment and militia demonstration and attendees will follow a fife ‘n drum from the Settlers Park to Mansion House and historic Kingsland. We're gathering talent from the seven towns that comprised "Ancient Woodbury" 350 years ago - Southbury, Woodbury, Roxbury, Bethlehem, Washington, Middlebury, and Oxford.
