History Talk: “Native People of the Pomperaug” – December 7, 2023 at 1:00pm
Don’t miss this 11th and final talk in the 350th series, happening Thursday, December 7th at 1:00pm. 350 years ago British Colonial settlers first came to the valley where we now live, granted authority from the General Court to negotiate with the natives there to acquire property and establish a “Plantation”. Who were these native people? How did they interact with these newcomers? What became of them and what trace did they leave behind? Using ancient records, Southbury Town Historian John Dwyer tries to answer these questions and more. This is a free event at the Southbury Public Library, with registration.
