HAPPY 35th ANNIVERSARY ~ Señor Pancho's

Señor Pancho's, the oldest Mexican restaurant in Connecticut, celebrated 35 years in business this month! The Southbury Chamber led a ribbon cutting at 385 Main Street South to celebrate the anniversary with Andy Adames, his family, and his team. U.S. Congresswoman, Jahana Hayes provided Special Congressional Recognition.

The Community Quilt tour continues with its 3rd stop – The Heritage Hotel, 522 Heritage Road. It is available for viewing in the hotel lobby for the next three weeks. 350th Community Cookbook

The Arts & Culture Subcommittee of the Southbury Economic Development Commission asked Southbury residents for their family recipes and to include a brief story about the recipe and images. This cookbook is the result, available for purchase in print for $20 at the Town Clerk’s office, and at The Local Gourmet, 316 Main Street South, while supplies last. 350th Anniversary Commemorative Book - A Year of Celebration

A sixty-page, full color souvenir book has been published to commemorate the Town of Southbury’s 350th Anniversary year-long celebration. The book, full of pictures, history, congratulatory letters from the President of the United States, and more, is available while supplies last. All proceeds benefit the Southbury Historical Society. The Tribury Rotary is holding a Pickleball Tournament on April 20, 2024 from 9:00am – 5:00pm at Ballantine Park. Tickets are $45.00 and proceeds raised will go to the Tribury Rotary Foundation and Southbury Needy Fund. Sponsorships are available. Career ConneCT provides you with FREE training for high-demand careers. Earn the skills you need for a job in 4 to 24 weeks, work with a career coach, and get connected to employers that are ready to hire!

Career ConneCT helps eligible people access and participate in short-term (typically 5- to 20-week) training programs that allows you to earn industry-recognized credentials and find entry-level employment in a high-quality career pathway. If you are eligible, Career ConneCT participants may also receive a skills inventory, case management, and job placement support, as well as supportive services such as transportation, childcare, housing, food, technology, benefits counseling, stipends, and/or other services needed to attend job training and care for your family during training.

This project is being supported, in whole or in part, by federal award number SLFRP0128 awarded to the State of Connecticut by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and the CT Office of Workforce Strategy. As such, Cannabis related programs are not eligible for funding or support through federal funds. Register here.


GRANTS


  • FedEx is holding its 12th annual Small Business Grants Program, set to award over $230K in grants and services to 10 U.S.-based small businesses. One grand prize winner will receive $50K, and nine additional recipients will be granted $20K. Applications close on April 1.
  • The Walmart Spark Good Local Grants offers grants ranging from $250 to $5K to address the unique needs of local communities. Grant applications are accepted quarterly, with Q1 submissions accepted through April 15.
