Police Department Profile

The Southbury Police Department is staffed for 22 full time police officers, one Resident Trooper Supervisor, 5 full time dispatchers, 3 part time dispatchers, and 2 civilian employees.

For the Southbury Police, patrolling means more than being mobile and highly visible, it means getting officers out of the patrol cars more often, so they can interact with citizens and business owners in a more positive manner.

The Southbury Police Department is striving to maintain a quality and professional Police Department. Many of our officers have college degrees, and we are increasing officer skills and professionalism through quality training programs. In addition to the basic technical skills officers receive additional training in DUI enforcement, Accident Investigation, Crime Scene Investigation, Interview and Interrogation Techniques, and Computer Crimes.

Southbury Emergency Dispatch

The Southbury Emergency Dispatch center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by trained Emergency Dispatchers. The Southbury Emergency Dispatch Center answers all 911 and routine calls for the Town of Southbury. All dispatchers are trained in Emergency Communications and are certified by the State of Connecticut as Telecommunicators. They are also certified Emergency Medical Dispatchers by the National Association of Emergency Medical Dispatch (NAEMD). This allows them to provide emergency medical instructions such as Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) over the phone. Southbury Emergency Dispatch is the sole source of communication for the Southbury Police Department, Southbury Volunteer Fire Department, Southbury Ambulance Association, Southbury Training School Fire and Ambulance, and Heritage Village Volunteer Ambulance.
