8/17/2019 - Discovering Macro Photography

Join professional photographer Sophie Zyla for a hands-on exploration of macro photography. We will spend our morning exploring the amazing world of small critters and flower patterns found below our normal eye level. There is an abundance, of subjects, to inspire our creativity in the fields and gardens around the red barn at the Bent.

What will capture your eye? Come explore insects and flowers as a close-up or part of a landscape shot, patterns and abstracts in nature, and high or low-key photography to isolate details. Do not worry if you don’t know what those possibilities are. Sophie will start you off with a very short presentation in the barn. All skill levels are welcome from beginner to expert.

Bring your camera, a chair if you like, and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty as you may wish to get low to the ground. Most important, bring your sense of adventure, curiosity, creativity, and humor. If you have a macro lens, extension tubes, fisheye lens, tripod, monopod, flash, lensballs, magnifying filters, or other gear you want to play with bring those as well. Sophie will have some things available to play with.

Please Note Road Closure: From June 1 through September, East Flat Hill Road will be closed for a bridge repair and Bent of the River visitors will, unfortunately, not have access to our center’s parking lot coming directly from South Britain.
