6/8/2024 - Historic Buildings Open House

All three historic buildings owned by Southbury will be opened to visitors on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 10am to 3pm. Take a step back in history by walking inside the Old Town Hall, the South Britain Library, and Bullet Hill School.

Bullet Hill School is Southbury’s oldest public building, being constructed near the time the town was incorporated. The Old Town Hall was built in 1873 which includes an old secure vault. In 1904, the South Britain Library became the first permanent library in Southbury. This tiny gem houses hundreds of books, all published before 1969.

This event is part of the CT Open House Day 2023 state-wide event, and is supported by the Southbury Historical Society and the Southbury Historic Buildings Commission.

Locations of the buildings:

  • Bullet Hill School: 215 Main Street North
  • Old Town Hall: 624 South Britain Road
  • South Britain Library: 576 South Britain Road
