11/9/2024 - Fatal Attraction: The Devastating Impact of Rodenticides on our Wildlife The Southbury Animal Control invites residents to an informative presentation on the impact of rodenticides on our wildlife given by Christine's Critters of Weston, Connecticut. The program will feature some of their birds of prey ambassadors. Research shows that rat poisons used to control pest animals are also killing native carnivore species. When products such as d-CON are used for rodent control, the poisoned mice and rats make their way up the food chain poisoning all who consume them. Birds of prey will ALWAYS go for the easy meal and a dying rodent is slow and lethargic and an easy kill for these predators. Christine’s Critters is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that rescues and rehabilitates more than 100 injured raptor patients each year in an attempt to heal their injuries for release. Their educational programs fund their wildlife rehabilitation program and allow the purchase of food, medical supplies, and veterinary care for their patients.
