Over 30 free door prizes will be handed out valued between $25 & $100. Get tips to preserve clean air and water and improve your health by: Reducing food waste and composting Reducing waste, recycling more, and ditching single-use plastics Buying less and buying more sustainably Reducing the health impacts of single-use plastics Conserving water and reducing water pollution Reducing your energy use and how everyone can use clean energy Choosing eco-friendly products Buying local and supporting sustainable businesses Using EVs and cleaner transportation options more often To assist everyone in gaining new earth-friendly habits, Sustainable Southbury will have a Recycling Collection Table where you can bring hard-to-recycle items. Items being recycled for you include: CLOTHING - Gently used HOUSEWARES - pots, pans, utensils, etc. DVDs, CDs, VHS, Audio Cassettes - FUNCTIONAL SPORTS SUPPLIES - balls, mitts, rackets, frisbees… EYEGLASSES and HEARING AIDS PLASTIC BAGS and FILM WRAP - store bags, ziplock, dry cleaning bags… CORKS - MUST BE CORK (NO Plastic) KITCHEN SEPARATION - ZERO WASTE BOX TERRACYCLE https://shop.terracycle.com PLASTIC PACKAGING - ZERO WASTE BOX TERRACYCLE https://shop.terracycle.com HOUSEHOLD BATTERIES. - Alkaline AAA, AA, C, D and Lithium discs. Six winners will be announced at Noon and receive prizes from CT businesses. Students have the freedom to creatively answer the question, “What do the 7 Rs Mean to you?” Students are currently working on their poems, songs, videos, essays, art, posters, or sculptures. Deadline for submissions is May 23.
