DECISIONS OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION
At their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 the Southbury Planning Commission took the following actions:
(i) VOTED UNANIMOUSLY AND PASSED on the motion made by Commissioner Vice Chairperson Clark; seconded by Commissioner Greenspan to recommend the approval for the Special Exception & Site Plan Modification: 142 Main Street North, Southbury CT 06488. Seeking approval under Schedule A, B-1A Special Exception for ‘Change of Use’ from furniture retail to a book shop, ’Little Fox Bookshop.’
(ii) VOTED UNANIMOUSLY AND PASSED on the motion made by Commissioner Chairman Teardo; seconded by Commissioner Gittines to recommend the approval for the Special Exception & Site Plan Modification: 1257 Southford Road, Southbury CT 06488. Seeking approval under Schedule A, B-1A Special Exception for service based business as a private art studio for artistic creation. Ms. Janelle Chandler (Applicant).
(iii) DENIED: VOTED UNANIMOUSLY AND DENIED on the motion made by Commissioner Chairman Teardo; seconded by Commissioner Vice Chairperson Clark to DENY Site Plan Modification: 1570 Southford Road, Southbury CT 06488. Seeking approval for the installation of a 3x7 square feet building sign and a 4x8 square feet standing sign with associated lighting as per regulations.
(iv) VOTED UNANIMOUSLY AND PASSED on the motion made by Commissioner Chairman Teardo; seconded by Commissioner Vice Chairperson Clark to recommend the approval for the Application for Subdivision: 295 Old Woodbury Road, Southbury CT 06488. Seeking approval for the construction of a new four (4) lots subdivision, named ‘Homes on Old Woodbury.’ Connecticut Residential, Inc. Mr. Scott Volpe (Applicant).
(v) VOTED UNANIMOUSLY AND PASSED on the motion made by Commissioner Chairman Teardo; seconded by Commissioner Greenspan to issue a positive report for the 8-24 Board of Selectmen Referral: Ryan Anthony Rutledge Memorial Bench
