11/6/2019 - The Berkshire Jazz Orchestra’s Holiday Concert

On Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 1:00-3:00pm in the Kingsley Room, join us for the Berkshire Jazz Orchestra’s Holiday Concert. The snow date will be Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 1:00-3:00pm in the Kingsley Room.

The Berkshire Jazz Orchestra is back to give a twist to your favorite classic holiday songs! The songs featured will include “Winter Wonderland,” “Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire,” “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Sleigh Ride,” and many other favorites. Vocalist Jan Maki will also bring us special arrangements of Bette Midler’s “Baby its Cold Outside,” Dianna Krall’s “Jingle Bells” and other well-known Holiday standards.

Under the direction of Chip Zellner this group plays classic big band music, as well as newer pieces. The 17-piece ensemble maintains the tradition of a jazz orchestra, and features great soloists. The Berkshire Jazz Orchestra has performed in New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts, in events such the Newtown Arts Festival and the Wilton Jazz Festival. The group has been performing since 1987.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this presentation is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library. Space is limited and registration is required. Please call 203-262-0626 ext. 130 to register.
