Local photographer, Hank Meirowitz, has proven himself in group and solo exhibitions as a man who enjoys a variety of subject matter including flowers, people of foreign cultures, landscapes, architecture, happy faces of children and particularly pets. His love of pets earned him the title of Photographer for the Pampered Pet as he is ready to pose/photograph a favorite dog, cat, iguana, bird, or any other beloved companion.
When he first began, his love of black and white photography resulted in hours of work in printing contrast photos from negatives. Today, the same work can be done in much less time with Photoshop and digital prints. A new technique has allowed him to print in black and white adding subtle touches of color to spark up the photograph. The effect is different and quite interesting.
His passion for travel has found him in exotic lands with indigenous wild life that many people have seen but not photographed. In the last twenty years his trips have included Poland, Russia, Australia, Croatia, Cambodia, Myanmar, to name just a few. His all-time favorite was Antarctica, a once in a lifetime trip. Always an aficionado of the little black and white “munchkins,” marching over rough terrain single file, he has captured the personality of the Chin-Strap Penguin and has had several shows depicting them in their natural habitat.
In the last year or two he has had PowerPoint presentations for groups at several senior centers in the area, showing photos of his travels and pointing out the highlights and highpoints of the different areas in the images.
This online photography show is a new adventure for him and hopefully the images included here will bring smiles to all who view the pampered pets included here.
