7/6/2022 - New York Times Best-Selling Author Ann Leary In Person Book Talk and Signing on August 2, 2022

Author Ann Leary will talk about her new novel, The Foundling on Tuesday, August 2nd at 6:30pm in the library’s Kingsley Room followed by a book-signing. The Hickory Stick Book Shop (Washington CT) will sell copies of her book. Ann’s program is part of the Lu Burke Literary Series which was established several years ago by the Library Board of Directors to honor Lu Burke and her extraordinary bequest to the library. Ann Leary’s new historical novel, The Foundling, is loosely based on a true story about her grandmother, and is about two childhood friends who meet again years later at a controversial asylum- one as an employee; the other as an inmate.

Ann is the New York Times bestselling author of The Children, The Good House, Outtakes from a Marriage and the memoir, An Innocent, A Broad. The Good House has been adapted as a motion picture starring Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline and premiered at the Tribeca International Film Festival in June.

Ann has written for numerous publications including Ploughshares, NPR, Real Simple and the New York Times. Ann’s NY Times Modern Love essay, “Rallying to Keep the Game Alive,” was adapted for the Amazon Modern Love TV series starring Tina Fey and John Slattery.

Ann and her husband Denis Leary live in New York.
