8/7/2025 - Southbury Library Restoration 100% Funded

Southbury First Selectman Jeffrey Manville is pleased to report the Connecticut State Bond Commission approved $350,000 in state funding to assist with flood repairs and restoration of the Southbury Public Library. The allocation was approved unanimously at an August 1 special Commission meeting in Hartford. This additional grant will cover the balance of the costs after FEMA reimbursement.

“While we have continued library services and events in several locations throughout Town during restoration, we have always been committed to the reopening of our library. The Southbury Public Library is the heart of our Town”, said First Selectman Manville. Southbury suffered devastating losses in what was deemed a 1,000-year flood. Significant work has already been completed to get the library building operational again. More information on an opening date will be provided as the project comes closer to completion.

First Selectman Manville would like to recognize and thank State Representative Jason Buchsbaum, State Representative Arnie Jensen, and State Senator Eric Berthel for their support and advocacy at the state level for this funding.
