WATER MAIN BREAK ON MAIN STREET REPAIR

On the morning September 19th the Southbury Emergency Management Office and our Communications Center received multiple reports of “water bubbling up” on Main Street South. Southbury’s Police, Public Works, Fire Marshal, and Emergency Management Departments responded to the site and found what appeared to be a water main break.
Connecticut Water Company was notified, responded to the scene, and confirmed the issue. Several schools were closed early, and water tankers were dispatched to provide water to two assisted living facilities that were affected.
The Housatonic Valley Health District was also notified and provided restaurants, hair and nail salons, and day care facilities closing and reopening information.
It is worth noting my observation at the scene was that the new traffic lights were instrumental in keeping the flow of traffic moving and limiting congestion in the area.
Thank you to Southbury’s Emergency Response Team who coordinated the response with professionalism resulting in the efficient and timely repair of the water main.

THROUGH THE LENS

My wife, Barbara, and I were happy to see so many Southbury residents and businesses supporting Ann’s Place at their annual fundraiser, Through the Lens, on last Tuesday evening September 30th at the Heritage Hotel and Conference Center. The event celebrated a special portrait photography series by local photographers, hair and makeup artists, and community cancer survivors. The purpose of the event was to raise money for and create awareness of Ann’s Place, a non-profit that provides comfort, support, and resources to people in our community living with cancer, and their loved ones, all at no charge.
