2/25/2026 - Energy Assistance Program

Energy Assistance Program is designed to help offset the winter heating costs of our most vulnerable lower income households. The Social Services completes applications for winter heating aid for low-income Southbury households from October through April. Income and asset verification is required.

Who is Eligible?

People whose annual household income falls at or below the income levels in the table below:

Benefits Amounts

$295-$645 for the 2025-2026 season, based on household size, income, and heating source.

What is Needed to Apply?

Proof of all sources of income from all members in the household 18 years and older. Examples of proof of income:

  • Last 4 weeks of pay stubs
  • Pensions/Annuities (1099's for 2025)
  • Social Security (2026 monthly benefit letter from Social Security)
  • Any other income (work comp, alimony, lottery winnings, child support, etc.)
  • Current DSS benefit letter for SNAP, if receiving benefits
  • Latest Eversource bill
  • Latest fuel vendor statement or delivery receipt
  • Latest rend receipt, if heat is included with rent payment

Deadline to apply is May 1, 2026.

Southbury Social Services office is located at 561 Main Street South in Southbury, and is open Tuesday and Thursday 8:30am-5:00pm, and Wednesday 9:30am-6:00pm.
