Southbury Parks & Recreation is seeking an enthusiastic and responsible TeenScape Camp Director for the upcoming summer season. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead a camp program for middle school aged children filled with engaging activities and field trips in a fun and supportive environment. Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Hours: 35-40 hours per week

Position Summary
The TeenScape Camp Director is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the Teenscape Summer Camp. This includes planning and implementing camp activities, coordinating field trips, supervising staff, and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all campers. The Director serves as the primary point of contact for parents and works closely with the Parks and Recreation leadership team to maintain high standards of safety, organization, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement themed weekly curriculum and activity schedules.
- Create and distribute staff schedules, forms, and daily assignments.
- Coordinate logistics to include working with Adventure Day Camp Director, Aquatics Supervisor and lifeguards.
- Adapt schedules as needed for weather or other changes; communicate updates clearly.
- Coordinate field trip bookings and logistics with the Assistant Director.
- Supervise camp counselors and campers.
- Collect and review waiver and health forms and communicate medical needs to staff.
- Monitor camp cell phone for parent communication throughout the day.
- Enforce safety guidelines for all activities and field trips.
- Manage camper group assignments and bus seating.
- Ensure adherence to time-sensitive activities (lunch, swim lessons, bus departures).
- Inspect camp site daily for safety and cleanliness; report supply needs and repairs.
- Maintain accurate camper attendance records.
- Communicate promptly with parents regarding delays or location changes.
- Direct and develop interest in a variety of recreation activities.
- Coordinate logistics for before/after camp care, park and pool usage and field trip payments.
- Monitor staff hours to prevent overtime; assist with payroll reminders.
- Lead staff orientation, weekly check-ins and meetings.
- Participate in employee evaluations and inventory reviews.
- Handle mandated reporting with appropriate staff and leadership present.
- Must be able to attend the entire 7-week duration of the TeenScape program.

Recreation Supervisor, Director of Parks & Recreation
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age or older and possess certifications in CPR/AED, Adult and Pediatric First Aid, EpiPen and Medication Administration.
- 2-3 years of experience as a summer camp counselor is preferred.
