The Town of Southbury is announcing that the one-lane Poverty Road Bridge over the Pomperaug River will be temporarily closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic until August 7, 2026. The bridge will be closed only between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM each day.
A contractor will be undertaking boring work near the bridge as part of the design phase for replacement.
Please be mindful of workers near the site, and follow the temporary detour below. Signs will also be posted on the road to indicate the detour route. Ewald Park will remain open while the work is underway.
