12/28/2020 - Tax Collector: Second Installment of Taxes is Due

TAXPAYERS TOWN OF SOUTHBURY

The second installment of taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2019 are due and payable on January 1, 2021 and may be paid through the month of January without penalty.

If the second installment is not paid on or before February 1, 2021, the installment will draw Interest from January 1, 2021 (original date due) at the rate of 1.5% per month, subject to a Minimum interest of $2.00 (CT Statue 12-146).

Supplemental motor vehicle tax bills issued under CT Statue 12-71B are due January 1, 2021 or the interest penalty shall be applied as listed above.

Your cancelled check is your receipt. If paying by mail and a receipt is desired, include a stamped, self-addressed envelope along with the appropriate payment stub(s) with the payment. Our processing center will not process payment if the payment stub is not included and will not send paid receipts. Please keep the top portion of your bill for your records.

You can receive an electronic reminder of your tax bills by registering for E-Alert Notifications at www.southbury-ct.org/e-alerts.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not invalidate the tax or the penalty.

Due to COVID-19, Southbury Town Hall offices are open to the public on a limited basis. The open hours are: Monday – Thursday 10:00am – 2:00pm and Friday 10:00am – 12:00pm. Visitors will be admitted on a first come first served basis with possible wait times due to COVID-19 protocol. The public entrance is at the lower corridor of Town Hall, accessed from the lower parking lot, and all other doors will remain locked. There is a greeter stationed at the entrance to manage capacity restrictions.

Payments by check may be dropped off at any time in the drop box located on the side of the building accessed from the upper parking lot. Please DO NOT deposit cash in this drop box

Please note the Tax Office cannot take cash payments over $50.00
