1/15/2021 - Code Red Message on January 15, 2021

State and local health districts have been working diligently on a plan to administer COVID-19 vaccinations. Phase 1a began in mid-December and included vaccines for health care personnel, long-term care facility residents, and medical first responders. As of January 11th, The State of Connecticut has administered 141,055 vaccine doses.

Phase 1b is now open. If you are 75 years of age or older, you are eligible to register and schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine. Starting today, the Pomperaug Health District is scheduling appointments and will begin conducting clinics next week. The Department of Public Health is also scheduling appointments utilizing the Vaccine Administration Management System. Given the limited supply, it may take time for all individuals in Phase 1b to receive the vaccine.

Registration information is available on the State of Connecticut, The Pomperaug Health Department, and The Town of Southbury websites. All vaccination clinics will require advance registration. No walk-in appointments will be allowed. A valid email address is required to register online. Persons needing assistance with the process can contact the Pomperaug Health Department at 203-264-9616 extension 7 or the State of Connecticut at 877-918-2224 Monday – Friday from 8am to 4:30 pm.

The Southbury Library will have computers available to register and schedule appointments. Southbury Emergency Management will continue to assist our local health department and State partners with the vaccination plans.
