Out of concerns about public health and safety with the current COVID-19 surge, the Open House is postponed.
The Town of Southbury is in the process of updating their Plan of Conservation and Development (POCD). This document will be used as a blueprint for how the Town wants to develop over the next 10-20 years and is a guide to local decision making in areas such as natural resource preservation, economic development, housing, land use and public services. This update is overseen by the Southbury Planning Commission, the staff of the Land Use Department and the Cheshire-based consulting firm, SLR International Corporation.
To continue promoting and gathering community input, a Community Open House is scheduled for Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm in room 205 at the Southbury Town Hall. As Planning Commission Chairman, Richard Teardo states: “Residents are invited to attend at any time between those hours and participate in the activities as well as offer their input on the update.”
Community Open Houses are intended to be both informational and interactive. This event will consist of an ongoing presentation and a series of interactive exercises along with the opportunity to ask questions and get more information. This Community Open House is the first of two that will be held to promote public involvement in updating the POCD. The goal of the first Community Open House is to further refine the overall community vision after collecting data from the survey that was opened to residents and business owners in September and October 2021.
Additional information on the Community Open House is available on the Town’s website at www.southbury-ct.org/POCD or by calling the Planning Department at 203-262-0634.
Masks are required in all municipal buildings regardless of vaccination status.
