1/27/2022 - Southbury Animal Control: “Coyote Wise” Program

Southbury Animal Control and Southbury Public Library hosted a “Coyote Wise” program on Thursday, January 27th. As this was held during business hours, Southbury Public Library recorded the program to allow extended viewing until Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

This program designated the town of Southbury as a “Coyote Wise” Community, as a part of a continued effort to foster coexistence and understanding of our wild canid neighbors. By detailing the history and ecology of coyotes and offering tools for coexistence, this program empowers community members to feel safe recreating outdoors while sharing the landscape with its natural inhabitants. The program instructor is Dana Goin, who is the Wildlife Outreach Specialist at the Wolf Conservation Center. She holds a degree in Wildlife Conservation, and has worked in various areas around the country studying large and mid-sized carnivores including mountain lions, coyotes, bobcats, and raccoons.
