5/23/2022 - Southbury Economic Development Commission Launches “Makers Spotlight”

The Southbury Economic Development Commission is pleased to announce the launch of its Makers Spotlight – a free monthly digital newsletter dedicated to highlighting a different local artist or artisan from within the community.

“We’d like to use our platform at the EDC to bring attention to the wealth of talent Southbury has to offer. Many of our local artists and crafters don’t have storefront operations, so this is a great way to get to know our makers and their wares,” says EDC Chair Anne Armeno. “We hope this spotlight will help these artists promote and grow their small businesses.”

Each edition will feature a brief Q&A with the maker, as well as a few photos and a link to find out more about their work. The monthly newsletter will be shared in the EDC’s Business Update, and will also be posted to various social media pages. To sign up for the Economic Development News, go to e-alerts signup page at www.southbury-ct.org/e-alerts.

The Makers Spotlight is open to all residents of Southbury who create original, handcrafted wares or compositions that they sell in some capacity (commissions, consignments, Etsy, or lessons for example). Submissions can include a wide range of practices, including paintings, pottery, baking, textiles, woodworking, and performance art to name a few.

The mission of the Southbury Economic Development Commission is to support and foster a strong local economy by attracting, promoting, retaining, and engaging businesses.
