6/13/2023 - Inland Wetlands Commission: Actions Taken at Meeting on June 13, 2023

At their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, the Southbury Inland Wetlands Commission took the following actions:

  1. APPROVED with conditions: Application #1714: 1235 Georges Hill Road, Curt Haedke (owner/applicant). This property was being addressed under “Show Cause Hearings.” The application is a follow up action post the closing of the hearing. Maintenance and restoration application for organizing logs and sticks on the property.
  2. WITHDRAWN: Application #1718: 655 North Georges Hill Road, Peter and Joan Van-Geldern (owner/applicant). This property was being addressed under “Show Cause Hearings.” The applicant withdrew his application at the hearing. A new maintenance and restoration application will be submitted to the Inland-Wetlands office for approval.
  3. APPROVED with conditions: Application #1719: 1200 Main Street South, Mike DePompeis (owner/applicant). This property was being addressed under “Show Cause Hearings.” The application is a follow up action post the closing of the hearing. Application for paving the parking lot in the back, remove piles of debris from the wetlands and create buffer around back wetlands; stabilize the front yard and protect the existing stream.
  4. APPROVED with conditions: Application #1720: 346 Jeremy Swamp Road, Marvin Orellana-Torres (owner/applicant). This property was being addressed under “Show Cause Hearings.” The application is a follow up action post the closing of the hearing. Maintenance and Restoration application to seed and mulch disturbed areas within the 50’ wetlands setback to remove vegetation and debris from the existing intermittent stream on neighbors’ property.
  5. DENIED: Application #1710: 40 Berkshire Road, David Christiano (applicant), seeking to get approval to widen the driveway a little, clean up and lay crushed stone. Put down seed and hay on the sides. Additionally, cut down two trees that are leaning. Clean up debris on the side of the house manually. Estimation of 40 cubic yards to be excavated. Estimation of 15 yards of stone material to be used.
  6. APPROVED with conditions: Application #1712: 37 Painter Road, Daniel Veccharelli (owner/applicant) seeking approval to cut down and pick up trees from tornado.
  7. APPROVED with conditions: Application #1716: 114 Overton Farm Drive, Aness Kasrat (owner/applicant). Applicant cleared lots of fallen trees and removed existing dry trees for safety reasons. The area that was cleared gave an extension of 35 feet of more depth. Seeking approval to grade and grass the clear extended area.
  8. APPROVED with conditions: Application #1717: 312 Old Waterbury Road, Kevin Bennett (owner/applicant). Seeking approval to perform grading and construct storm water management area and install storm drainage. Additionally, construct portion of driveway and parking area. As well as install silt fence.
