3/4/2024 - Spring Extravaganza on March 23, 2024

Please join Southbury Parks and Recreation on Saturday, March 23, 2024 (rain or shine) for an inclusive free special event the Spring Extravaganza, formerly known as the Spring Egg Hunt. Sensory-friendly activities will take place between 10:00am and 11:00am, with general admission from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Last entry into the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building will be at 1:45pm with all activities wrapping up at 2:00pm. The event will take place at a new location - the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building at 561 Main Street South.

The event is free but non-perishable food items for the Southbury Food Bank are requested. Visit their website at to find the current list of critical needs.

Activities taking place are Candy Hunts (traditional candy-filled eggs and bagged kosher candy), spring and holiday themed crafts, educational information booths, and decorated spring scenes for photo opportunities with a bunny and our photo booth with props.

Bring your basket or bag to hold your crafts and goodies from the Candy Hunt!

The Candy Hunt will take place on the field behind Pomperaug Elementary School at 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm SHARP! Please arrive 10 minutes before the hunt. The Candy Hunt may be moved inside the Pomperaug Elementary School gym in case of inclement weather. Sensory-friendly candy hunts will take place inside the Parks and Recreation/ Senior Center Building, including the Candy Hunt between 10:00 and 11:00am.

Patrons may park at one of several locations: Parks and Recreation/Senior Center parking lot, Town Hall lower and upper parking lot, Rochambeau Middle School parking lot and/or Pomperaug Elementary School parking lot. There will be a designated handicapped parking and drop-off area for people with accessibility needs in front of the Parks and Recreation/Senior Center Building monitored by our staff.
