Voter Registration Deadlines
90 days Before Primary: Deadline to Change Party Affiliation
The last date to change from one party to another to vote in the Primary.
March 15
: Deadline to Register to vote/join party BY MAIL and ONLINE
The last date for new voters, and for unaffiliated voters, to enroll in a party for voting in its primary. For new voters, mail-in applications must be postmarked, or received by Registrar of Voters or voter registration agency, by this date. For unaffiliated voters, the mail-in application must be received (not merely postmarked) by the Registrar of Voters by this deadline. (

April 1, Noon:
Deadline to Register to vote/join party IN PERSON
The last date for unaffiliated voters to join a party to vote in the Primary and new electors to register to vote.
Same-Day Voter Registration is not available for Primaries.
Early Voting
Dates: March 26, 27, 28, 30
Place: Southbury Town Hall in room 201 during hours of 10:00am-6:00pm. There's no voting on March 29 because of the state holiday.
Registration Deadlines for Early Voting:
Individuals who are not registered to vote
cannot register AND vote on the same day during the early voting period in the Primary
. In order to vote during the early voting period, an individual will need to register to vote and enroll in a political party by noon of the previous day to be eligible to vote the next day.
March 25, Noon: deadline for registered unaffiliated voters to join a party to vote during the early voting period.

Absentee Ballots are available for the Municipal Election at Southbury Town Clerk's Office.

Any elector who is permanently physically disabled can receive an absentee ballot for referendum without reapplying.

Southbury Registrar of Voters Office
is open Monday-Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm
Southbury Senior Services offers transportation for Southbury residents age 60+ and those with disabilities. If you need a ride to the polling place, please call 203-262-0652 to reserve the ride. Reservations must be made 2 business days in advance of the desired ride date, by 10:00am
Voters must provide identification to vote at the polling place. Acceptable forms of identification include: a driver’s license or other photo ID; U.S Passport; a pre-printed form of ID, like a tax bill or utility bill, pay stub or bank statement; Social Security card or other government document that shows your name and address; a document that shows your name and signature (i.e. a credit card).
