  • Republican Primary for U.S. Senator and State Representative
  • Date: Tuesday, August 13, 2024
  • Election Hours: 6:00am - 8:00pm
  • Voters will vote at their assigned district polling sites. Click here to find your voting district and a polling location.
  • Only REGISTERED REPUBLICANS may vote in this Primary. In Connecticut, a voter must be a member of a political party in order to vote in that party’s primary. Meaning, a registered Republican can only vote in the Republican Primary. An unaffiliated voter (term used to refer to voters who are not registered with any political party) needs to join the Republican party in order to vote in the Primary.

Voter Registration Deadlines

  • 90 days Before Primary: Deadline to change party affiliation
    The last date to change from one party to another to vote in the Primary.
  • August 2, Noon: Deadline for registered unaffiliated voters to join a party to vote during the early voting period.
  • August 12, Noon: Deadline to register to vote/join party IN PERSON
    The last date for unaffiliated voters to join a party to vote in the Primary and new electors to register to vote.
  • Same-Day Voter Registration is not available for Primaries.

Early Voting

  • Dates: August 5-11     
  • Place: Southbury Town Hall in room 205
  • Hours:
    • August 5 (Monday): 10:00am-6:00pm
    • August 6 (Tuesday): 8:00am-8:00pm
    • August 7 (Wednesday): 10:00am-6:00pm
    • August 8 (Thursday): 8:00am-8:00pm
    • August 9 (Friday): 10:00am-6:00pm
    • August 10 (Saturday): 10:00am-6:00pm
    • August 11 (Sunday): 10:00am-6:00pm
  • Registration Deadlines for Early Voting:
    • Individuals who are not registered to vote cannot register AND vote on the same day during the early voting period in the Primary. In order to vote during the early voting period, an individual will need to register to vote and enroll in a political party by noon of the previous day to be eligible to vote the next day.
    • August 2, Noon: deadline for registered unaffiliated voters to join a party to vote during the early voting period.

Additional Information

  • Southbury Registrar of Voters Office is open Monday-Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Southbury Senior Services offers transportation for Southbury residents age 60+ and those with disabilities. If you need a ride to the polling place, please call 203-262-0652 to reserve the ride. Reservations must be made 2 business days in advance of the desired ride date, by 10:00am
  • Voters must provide identification to vote at the polling place. Acceptable forms of identification include: a driver’s license or other photo ID; U.S Passport; a pre-printed form of ID, like a tax bill or utility bill, pay stub or bank statement; Social Security card or other government document that shows your name and address; a document that shows your name and signature (i.e. a credit card).
