8/18/2024 - Flooding Update and Closed Roads

From First Selectman Jeff Manville:

The Town of Southbury is currently operating under a State of Emergency. Public Safety officials are currently assessing the damage in town. There are approximately 800 power outages, 15 roadways are completely closed due to flooding conditions and multiple partial roadway closures throughout town. The Pomperaug River is currently 3.5 feet above flood stage. We will continue to monitor the weather systems that are still approaching our area. All residents are strongly encouraged to stay home and stay off the roadways.

  • Old Waterbury Road @ Church Road
  • Old Field Road @ Bullet Hill Brook
  • New Road
  • West Flat Hill Road @ Purchase Brook Rd
  • Stillson Road
  • S. Georges Hill Road @ Luna Trail
  • Lakeside Road @ Lee Farm Rd
  • Jeremy Swamp Road @ RT67 through Hulls Hill
  • State Route 172 (South Britain Road) between Horse Fence Hill and Southbury Training School
  • Brennan Road @ South Flat Hill Road
  • Kettletown Road
  • Main Street South and Main Street North intersection
  • Route 6 (Main Street North) @ Woodbury line
