For over half a century, family-owned business Joseph Bette Realtors, Inc. has served thousands of residents in Southbury and the surrounding region, with the buying and selling of their homes. They are the leading real estate firm serving Heritage Village, the first and largest senior housing community in Connecticut. “It’s more than transactional,” says Justin Bette, co-owner of the business with his father Joseph Bette, Jr., who started the business in 1973, located at 185 Main Street North in Southbury. “For many people this is one of the biggest decisions of their lives, right up there with getting married. It’s a privilege to be a part of it, to be trusted in helping them make such an important decision.”
“Joseph Bette Realtors is more than just a business here in Southbury, they’re a part of our community,” said First Selectman Jeff Manville. “Justin Bette, as his father and grandfather before him, have given back to the community in many ways. I am grateful for Justin’s service on our Board of Selectman these past nine years.”
Fifty-one years ago, Justin’s grandfather, Joseph Bette, Sr. served on the town’s committee to plan the town’s 300th anniversary, and last year, Justin served on the town’s 350th Anniversary Steering Committee. His father, Joseph Bette, Jr. was on the town’s Planning Commission and chaired the Assessment Appeals Board for 35 years, along with serving on the committee to create the Pomperaug Health District.
“In this day and age of more and more large corporations acquiring small, independent businesses, it is nice to see one that has not only stood the test of time but has thrived doing so, growing from one employee to twelve” said Kevin Bielmeier, Southbury Economic Development Director. “I have no doubt Joseph Bette Realtors will be here for another 50 years.”
To help celebrate this milestone, the Southbury Chamber will hold a ribbon cutting on Friday, September 6th at 11:00 a.m. at 185 Main St. North. Later the same day, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the company will host an Open House and Celebration in their red barn with refreshments. “We would love to see as many of our clients and friends as possible,” said Justin Bette.
