The major disaster declaration for individual assistance has been approved by President Joe Biden in response to the historic flooding that affected our area on August 18 and 19, 2024. Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont came to Southbury to announce this decision. He was accompanied by Southbury First Selectman Jeff Manville, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal, Deputy Commissioner of Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Brenda Bergeron and President and CEO of TEAM, Inc. David Morgan.
Residents and business owners who sustained losses in the designated areas can begin applying for assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 800-621-FEMA(3362), or by using the FEMA app. Anyone using a relay service, such as video relay service (VRS), captioned telephone service or others, can give FEMA the number for that service.
