10/11/2024 - FEMA Updates for Southbury

The FEMA canvassing team has concluded their door-to-door campaign in Southbury. Their goal was to identify affected places, provide people with potential disaster recovery aid sources, and assist them with completing their applications. In the last 2 ½ weeks they have visited 2,453 residences,104 businesses, 12 houses of worship, 7 community-based organizations, and 2 government agencies.

Although the canvassing team has finished, a FEMA Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) is still open at Southbury Town Hall (501 Main Street South, Southbury, CT, 06488). The DRC provides information and application assistance to anyone who had damage to their home or business from the flooding event on August 18-19, 2024.

The deadline for applying for FEMA assistance is November 19, 2024.

If you applied for assistance and received notice that you are not eligible to receive it, please read the notice in its entirety as there may be additional information you need to submit for approval. In addition, if you do not agree with the amount of the FEMA payment or received a denial notice, you have the option to appeal that decision. Please visit the Disaster Recovery Center to review and discuss your individual claim with a FEMA representative. The Small Business Administration is also located at the DRC to provide information and assistance with applying for low-interest disaster loans for businesses and homeowners.

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at Southbury Town Hall is opened Mondays to Fridays: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (including Columbus Day holiday on October 14), Saturdays: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
