LIBRARY SHOW OF SUPPORT
On May 8th, we asked our citizens to show their support for the Community Project Funding application that was submitted for the Southbury Library flood restoration. Thank you to all of the community members who took action and either signed online or wrote a personal letter to Congresswoman Jahana Hayes. The Town received 14 letters of support and 1,540 signatures, many with comments, in less than four days.
The letters and comments written were heartfelt, with some touching on the personal experiences they shared with their families at the library over the years. We can all agree that our library is truly “The Heart of our Community”. We will keep you informed of any updates on our application.

MAY 15TH TAX SALE RESULTS
A tax-deed sale took place on May 15, 2025 at Southbury Town Hall. Twenty-two properties with past-due taxes were scheduled for auction. Of these properties, 19 were redeemed prior to the sale and three were successfully auctioned. More than $390,000 in delinquent taxes, interest and lien fees due the Town of Southbury were collected.
If the winning bid at the auction is for more than the taxes, accrued interest, and costs and fees due on the day of the Sale, the additional amount is considered to be an overbid. The overbid is held in escrow by the tax collector and then remitted to the Clerk of the Superior Court for settlement to the owner, lienholders or the State.

* Includes $9,214.16 2024 GL jeopardy collection
