Plan of Conservation & Development
The town is in the process of updating Southbury's Plan of Conservation & Development (POCD), which will serve as a guide for future growth and development in Southbury. The POCD was last updated in 2012. The State requires that municipalities update their POCDs every ten years to establish a vision and objectives that address housing, business and infrastructure development as well as parks, open space, historic and natural resources protection and sustainability, among other things. Residents, community members, businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate and share their opinions on this initiative.
The process is overseen by the Southbury Planning Commission, the staff of Planning Department and Cheshire-based consultant SLR International Corporation.
Community Open House - March 24, 2022
4-7pm; Southbury Town Hall, Room 205
This informational and interactive event will consist of an ongoing presentation and a series of interactive exercises along with the opportunity to ask questions and get more information. Residents are invited to attend at any time between 4pm-7pm and participate in the activities. This Community Open House is the first of two that will be held to promote public involvement in updating the POCD. The goal of the first Community Open House is to further refine the overall community vision after collecting data from the survey that was opened to residents and business owners in September and October 2021.
From September 20 to October 27, 2021, Southbury residents and business owners had an opportunity to submit their input for the new Plan of Conservation and Development. Click to view survey results.
