“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.” ~ William Arthur Ward
A Note from the Economic Development Director
With the holidays in full swing and the end of the year in sight, it is a good time to take a moment and reflect on the year and give thanks. This year, with my work on the town’s Plan of Conservation and Development, those to thank are many. Therefore, a collective “thank you” to all who contributed their time, expertise and passion to the ten-year POCD coming soon. The Sustainable CT working group, and the many partners who helped Southbury secure its state award as a sustainable community. The Economic Development Commission who formed the Arts & Culture Sub-committee this year, already so active in just six months. The Southbury Business Association for supporting the business community for over 50 years and the leaders’ daring decision to launch the Southbury Chamber, with the Waterbury Regional Chamber, taking us into a new era of growth and business support. Our Building and Land Use Departments, and all the municipal employees who provide reliable service to the businesses who Choose Southbury. Gosia Liedlich, our town’s Digital Communications Specialist, without whom I could not do my job. Last, but not least, big thanks go to YOU, the Southbury business community. It is your passion, dedication, willingness to work together and cross-promote, as well as your generosity to the community that inspires me each and every day. I look forward to the new year as the Town celebrates 350 years of history, all year long. Until then, have a joyful holiday! ~ Kevin Bielmeier, ecodevdirector@southbury-ct.gov.
