A Note from the Economic Development Director
2023 is already shaping up to be a strong year for Southbury. Our year-long 350th Anniversary Celebration is well underway. We held our Kick-off in January, followed by our first-ever Snow and Ice Festival this month. More than 500 people braved the frigid temperatures to enjoy this family-fun community event. A very successful Restaurant Week with Southbury.com, saw many new faces in our restaurants. Coming up next month is Civic Day on March 11th. Learn more about the 350th Celebration at www.southbury-ct.org/350. ~ Kevin Bielmeier, ecodevdirector@southbury-ct.gov.

350th EVENTS: SNOW & ICE FESTIVAL
The community braved cold temps to attend the Town's first Snow & Ice Festival, organized as part of the Town's 350th Anniversary celebration. It featured ice carving demos and ice corn hole by Bill Covitz of Ice Matters, sponsored by Southbury Village Square and Riverview Cinemas. The Knights of Columbus warmed everyone up with complimentary hot cocoa and donuts. Chatfield's True Value donated a fire pit, s'mores, and snow cones. Three food trucks, Pieology, Lobster Tales, and Kraftwich, offered a variety of tasty options. The Arts & Culture Sub-committee provided face-painting, old-time crafts, and historical coloring books inside for families. Big thanks to the Economic Development Commission, Parks & Rec and Public Works Depts., and the many volunteers who helped pull off this mid-winter community event.
