BUSINESS RECOVERY CENTERS
The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) opened two Business Recovery Centers (BRCs) in Connecticut on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 1 p.m. at the Monroe Police Department in Monroe and the Oxford Town Hall in Oxford. SBA is opening the centers to assist CT businesses with losses due to severe storm, flooding, landslides and mudslides that occurred on August 18-19. These are the FEMA BRCs.
SBA’s Customer Service Representatives are available at the Centers to assist business owners complete their disaster loan application, accept documents, and provide updates on an application’s status. Walk-ins are accepted, but you can schedule an in-person appointment at an SBA Business Recovery Center in advance at appointment.sba.gov. The filing deadline to return applications for physical property damage is Nov. 19, 2024. The deadline to return economic injury applications is June 20, 2025. News Release from SBA.

Last week, Southbury hosted a gathering of federal, state and local leaders, joined by a few small businesses and farms, to discuss ways to assist in the aftermath of the historic flood of August 18 and 19th. Included were the U.S. Small Business Administration and their Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience, SCORE Mentors, Connecticut Small Business Development Center, Woman’s Business Development Council, Waterbury/ Southbury Chamber, Senator Blumenthal’s Office, and WCSU.
