Street and Highway Maintenance

The Highway Division is responsible for maintaining the Town’s transportation infrastructure and keeping its roads, bridges and sidewalks in acceptable condition. Operations are overseen by the Road Foreman and consist of maintaining and improving town roads, sidewalks, storm drainage, bridges and culverts.

These operations include work such as pavement repairs, road resurfacing, snow and ice control, street sweeping, catch basin cleaning, roadside mowing, traffic signal maintenance, pavement centerline and crosswalk painting, placement of traffic control signs, streetscape lighting and sidewalk repairs. The department also supports the Driveway Permit and Street Excavation Permit program by inspecting all driveway construction and all utility construction and repairs within town roads. The inspection of all new subdivision roads is also under the purview of the Highway Division.
