Southbury residents and businesses, it’s time to light up the season! Enter our 5th annual Holiday House Lights Contest by decorating your home or business with festive lights and displays. Show off your holiday spirit and spread some cheer with our community! Entry into this contest is free. Let's make Southbury shine bright this holiday season.

Submissions

Once your house or business is decorated, please fill out our entry form below.

A requirement for submission is taking a video or photo of your home/business and submitting the photo/video with your entry form. You also must select which category you are entering. Entries must be submitted by Sunday, December 14, at 11:59pm.
NOTE: If your photo/video is too blurry, your entry will not be considered for judging. 

Winners of this contest will be announced by Friday, December 19th. Winners will receive a prize and be mentioned in our newsletter, social media, and e-blast! The only category that will not receive a prize is the Holly Jolly Block category.

Contest Categories:

• Merry & Bright (best use of lights)
• The North Pole (best North Pole design)
• Gingerbread Village (Heritage Village entries only)
• Santa’s Workshop (best use of holiday décor - local business category only)
• Winter Wonderland (best winter themed decor)
• Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree (best use of music and technology award)
• The Holly Jolly Block* (most festive neighborhood)

*This category is eligible for bragging rights and marketing, and not prizes. If entering the Neighborhood Category, there must be a minimum of 5 houses that are on the same street or cross-street.

Disclaimer: Participants who submit entries will have their address posted to the Town of Southbury’s website and Facebook Page for all community members to enjoy.

The route/map will be posted for the public to enjoy the decorations around December 16.

Eligibility for this contest is limited to Southbury residents and Southbury businesses.

New This Year!

There will be an award for a Fan Favorite, where the public can vote on their favorite house or business (neighborhoods are excluded)! The Light of the Season Award.

Participants entering the contest do not have to select this category; they will automatically qualify for this. The general public will vote on their favorite home/business!

Voting for Fan Favorite will be open from Tuesday, December 16 to Sunday, December 28. Fan Favorite entries are limited to one vote per person. The winners of the Fan Favorite contest will be announced around December 29.

• Holiday House Contest Closes: Sunday, December 14 
• Route/Map of Entries Available: around Tuesday, December 16
• Fan Favorite Voting Begins: around Tuesday, December 16 (when the route/map becomes available)
• Contest Winners are Announced: Friday, December 19
• Fan Favorite Voting Closes: Sunday, December 28
• Fan Favorite Winner Announced: Monday, December 29
