12/16/2025 - The American Revolution- Southbury at War on January 24, 2026

On Saturday, January 24, 2026 from 1-3:30pm in person in the Kingsley Room, join us for a lecture about Southbury during the American Revolution.

250 years ago, the Revolutionary War was fought on home ground. Major military operations were conducted within marching distance of our town. Join us as Southbury’s Municipal Historian shares who, how and where local citizens were engaged in action against (or with) the British Crown. But Southbury’s involvement in the struggle for our nation’s independence was not only played out on the battlefield. Learn also of the other ways in which town and its people helped to save George Washington and the Continental Army.

John Dwyer and his family came to Southbury in 1984 to move into his wife's, Lynn, ancestral home. Their children were the 8th generation descendants to live there. The proximity to this heritage spurred an interest in antiquities into a study of local history.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this program is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. Registration is required. Please visit the link below for more information and to register.
