3/19/2026 - Brief Flame: The Short Passionate Life of John Keats on April 9, 2026

On Thursday, April 9, 2026 from 2-3:30pm on Zoom and streamed to our Kingsley Room, join us for a virtual program and learn more about the poet John Keats.

Join us as we explore the life of John Keats, including his poignant love for Fanny Brawne. Using his six great odes--all written in 1819--as stepping-stones, learn more about how they reveal the brief life of one of literature’s most brilliant poets, thinkers, and philosophers.

Led by Dr. Bill Thierfelder, a retired college professor who taught a variety of Arts and Humanities courses for 32 years at several New York universities and colleges, including St. John's University and Dowling College. He holds a Ph.D. in English, with minors in theater, art history and music history.

Like all Southbury Public Library programs, this program is free to attend and open to anyone regardless of town of residency. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library. Registration is required. Zoom invitation links will be sent via email on the day of the program.
