The Gloria Cachion Gallery at the Southbury Public Library will showcase the art of artist, Robert L. Ferrucci from Tuesday, August 4, 2026 through Friday, August 28, 2026.
Bob Ferrucci began painting at the very young age of 9 at the Hudson River Museum in Yonkers. He was in his first exhibit at age 18 and was awarded 1st prize for a Pen and Ink drawing. That early recognition was featured in the Herald Statesmen Newspaper in Yonkers, NY. That led to his first gallery show and launched a career that has never paused. When asked about the Southbury Public Library art gallery show, he says, “I automatically thought of the children that may be coming to the Library and decided to do some special caricature images that may be fun for them to see. I hope everyone enjoys them and all the other images.”
Bob Ferrucci studied at both the Art Students League and the Pan America Art School in New York City. Today, Bob’s work continues to evolve. Most of his work is inspired by nature, and now his interest is mostly impressionism and abstract impressionism.
Ferrucci has lived in Southbury, CT for just over 3 years. He speaks with gratitude about the local arts community, and particularly Faith Vicinanza and the VSG Gallery. The VSG Gallery has displayed his work and has sold some important pieces for him. Bob goes on to say, “Faith also asked if I would like to teach a class at the Gallery which we now do once every month. The class has been a great experience for me. I just love working with other artists.”
Experimentation remains essential to his work. Bob says, “Some Galleries would like you to continue painting the same thing over and over.” He just does not find that to be creative enough for him. Bob’s favorite part of painting is creating new ideas and new ways to enhance the work with tinting and using layers of pigment for special effects.
Bob’s advice to emerging artists is grounded and practical. He says, “Keep painting, you will not always succeed but you will learn. Keep drawing, study design, work hard, paint every day if you can-‘Fear Not’- you can do it.”
The exhibit is free and will be open during regular library hours which are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30am to 5:30pm, Tuesday and Thursday 9:30am to 9:00pm, Saturdays 9:30am to 4:00pm and Sundays 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
