10/10/2018 - October Evening at the Movies at Southbury Library

Evening at the Movies continues in October at the Southbury Public Library, with a new start time of 6:00pm. Two Thursdays a month at 6:00pm, the library will screen special evening movies in the Kingsley Room. Similar to the library’s Wednesday movies, these films are open to the public, free to attend, and require no registration.

On Thursday, October 18 at 6:00pm in the Kingsley Room, a pair of free spirits meet and fall in love. They decide to take an adventure which leads them into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. The main characters struggle to survive the storm and the aftermath which leaves them stranded in the middle of the ocean. This movie, based on a true story, is about the resilience of the human spirit. Starring Shailene Woodley, Sam Claflin and Jeffrey Thomas. Runs 1 hour, 36 minutes. Rated PG-13 for injury images, peril, language, brief drug use, partial nudity and thematic elements.

On Thursday, October 25 at 6:00pm in the Kingsley Room, this sequel, follows foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (Deadpool) as he brings together a group of mutants to protect a boy from a time traveling cyborg. Starring Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin and Morena Baccarin. Runs 1 hour and 59 minutes. Rated R for strong violence and language throughout, sexual references and brief drug material.

Because of licensing and copyright agreements, the library cannot list titles of the films. They are offered free to the public, sponsored by Friends of the Southbury Public Library. They begin at 6:00pm in the Kingsley meeting room surround sound theater, with infrared listening system available and closed captioning.
