6/18/2020 - Summer Reading at the Southbury Public Library

The Southbury Public Library is announcing plans for Summer Reading 2020. This year’s theme is Imagine Your Story and features fairy tales, storytelling, and mythology. Running from Monday, June 29 to Friday, August 7, 2020, Summer Reading is all online this year. We're thrilled to participate in READsquared, an online summer reading program, thanks to the Connecticut State Library. Register ONLINE on or after Monday, June 29.

Reading Challenges by Age Group

Children entering Kindergarten and younger may participate in our Pre-K Program. Keep track of every title you read and log it in READsquared. Earn extra points by participating in our challenges. One winner will be chosen each week and will receive two brand new books. You may also participate in our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Program.

School age children in Grades 1-5 may participate in our Children's Program. For every hour you read, keep track and log it in READsquared. Earn extra points by participating in our challenges. One winner will be chosen each week and will receive a gift card, sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.

Children and teens entering Grades 6-12 (and class of 2020 Graduates) may participate in our Teen Program. For every hour you read, keep track and log it in READsquared. Earn extra points by participating in our challenges. Each week will feature a raffle for a different gift card; one winner will be chosen; sponsored by the Friends of the Southbury Public Library.

Online registration for the reading challenge and programs will be available for all children and teens ages 0-18 starting Monday, June 29. The program will run until Friday, August 7.
